Supportive Housing & Emergency Shelter

Supportive Housing & Emergency Shelter

MIWRC Supportive Housing offers 13 two and three bedroom long term affordable units with support services on-site, and one three bedroom emergency shelter apartment. This is a sober facility and residents are offered an array of support services tailored to meet their needs, including budgeting workshops, how to build good rent credit, youth programs and parenting groups.

The emergency apartment offers temporary shelter for homeless families or women in crisis. MIWRC staff will help transition these families into alternative housing or shelter. One full time staff works with the community to transition homeless women and children or unaccompanied youth into suitable housing.

For more information on how to add your name to our Wait List or how to access emergency shelter, contact the MIWRC front desk.

“When the Native American Parenting Traditions Revisited (NAPTR) parenting curriculum was piloted at MIWRC recently, all participants demonstrated 100% sobriety during the course. They credited NAPTR with helping them learn where they came from, what their tribal traditions were and how these traditions could help them stay strong.  ”
