JOB SUMMARY: The Minnesota Indian Women’s Resource Center is a multi-service non-profit serving American Indian women and families with holistic, culturally-based programs and services. The Safe Harbor Youth Worker will provide intervention and support for sexually exploited youth and youth at high risk for sexual exploitation, with an emphasis on outreach to Native American girls and Two Spirit youth aged 12 to 24.


  1. Counseling and/or case management experience with female and LGBTQ+ youth; experience with youth involved in foster care systems highly desired.
  2. Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Youth Services, Public Health, or similar field preferred.
  3. Experience working with American Indian youth and families required.
  4. Experience with group facilitation.
  5. Knowledge of Twin Cities’ human services resources available to address the basic needs of clients.
  6. Knowledge and understanding of domestic & sexual assault issues and victim services.
  7. Must be familiar with Microsoft willing to learn/use other computer data systems as requested.


  1. Must have no current problems related to alcohol or drugs.
  2. Valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record required and provide proof of auto insurance. Must have own vehicle and be willing to transport as needed.
  3. Must be willing to submit to DHS Criminal Background Study.

  2. Ability to exemplify professional conduct and handle stressful situations well.


  1. Develop and implement a regular schedule of offsite education & support groups at partner sites throughout the community with high concentrations of American Indian youth.
  2. Provide individual intake, risk assessment, and safety plans for each youth client requesting Individual Case Management services.
  3. Assist clients in developing case plans for accessing safe housing, health care, mental health services, economic support, job development training, etc.
  4. Work in collaboration with MIWRC Sexual and Domestic Violence Advocacy team, Safe Harbor regional navigators, No Wrong Door Partner organizations, tribal contacts, and long standing community partners on collaborative/coalition projects of benefit to the community at large.
  5. Maintain standards of client record system and keep client files current on a weekly basis.
  6. Collect and track client statistical data from client and program logs for reporting purposes.
  7. Maintain highly confidential and sensitive information.
  8. Exemplify professional conduct and handle stressful situations well.
  9. Respond to other duties as assigned by Director of Programs and/or the Executive Director.

REPORTING AND SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Safe Harbor Youth Worker reports directly to the Director of Programs and has no supervisory responsibilities.
