Family homeless prevention and assistance Program

The Family Homeless Prevention and Assistance Program (FHPAP) provides supportive services and financial assistance, including rent deposits and rent or utility payments, to eligible households that are homeless or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. The goal of this program is to prevent evictions, provide stabilization services and case management, and increase self-sufficiency. This program is for Hennepin County residents who meet the following eligibility criteria: income at or below 200% of federal poverty guidelines, Minnesota residents (or household otherwise approved by Minnesota Housing), and currently experiencing a housing crisis. Assistance is offered without preconditions (such as employment, income, absence of criminal record, or sobriety) and the resources and services provided are tailored to the needs of the person. Households are assessed by FHPAP providers to determine eligibility and level of assistance. Funds are limited may not be available for all households.

Oshki-gakeyaa Section 8 supportive housing

Minnesota Indian Women's Resource Center is excited to announce the opening of Oshki-Gakeyaa "New Way", our new Permanent Supportive Housing community.

Opening in August 2025, Oshki-Gakeyaa will provide 24 newly renovated housing units and case management services with a focus on housing our unhoused relatives.

MIWRC's ability to provide high-quality Permanent Supportive Housing directly in the heart of the urban Native community facilitates clients' access to culturally responsive healthcare, social, and recreational services offered in the East Philips and Ventura Village neighborhood. 20 of our units are dedicated to our high priority homeless population and will be filled through coordinated entry referrals and the remaining four will be dedicated to people with disabilities referred directly through MIWRC.

Our third party management group is Shelter Corp., they will be onsite every week; Tuesday and Friday.

Every Tuesday during Tuesday Resource Connect, Hennepin County's Streets to Housing Outreach team provides coordinated entry assessments. Tuesday Resource Connect is every week from 9am - 3pm located in the community room/gym. Breakfast and Lunch are provided as well.

For more information about Oshki-Gakeyaa, including assistance with setting up a coordinated entry assessment, please contact housing manager Corey Baesler by email at cbaesler@miwrc.org or by phone 612-978-9031.
